2009: Throughout 2009, Kevin McCullough established himself as a franchise player for the Spokane Shock. The team finished the 2009 regular season with a record of 16-1-0. On 8/22/09, the Shock won the Arena Cup X, their second AFL 2 Championship in the last three years. Kevin's dominant performance earned him defensive player of the game honors. Kevin made three consecutive goal line stops, multiple open field tackles, excelled on special teams coverage and long-snapping, and intercepted a pass for a length of the field touch down return (negated by a penalty not involving Kevin). Kevin's exciting play and dedication earned him the nickname "chainsaw", and has secured an enthusiastic fan base with regular season home crowds exceeding ten thousand. Kevin's 2009 game stats include 70 tackles (43solo), 53 assists, 2.5 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, 10 interceptions, 128 return yards, and 3 touchdowns. Post season, Kevin will continue to hone his professional skills with sights set on the next level. A heavy schedule of individual workouts with a noted NFL performance enhancement trainer will resume in September.
2008: After attending mini camp with the New York Jets, Kevin signed with the Spokane Shock of the AF2 where he had a very successful season and helped the team to a 16-1 record, losing in the championship game by 1 point. During the regular season, Kevin finished with 62.5 tackles, had 45 solo tackles and 35 assists, plus 5 interceptions for 3 touchdowns, 2 fumble recoveries for 1 touchdown, and 2 rushing touchdowns. In the playoffs he added 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery and 1 rushing touchdown, plus a 10 tackle performance. Kevin received multiple contract offers to play within the AFL 1 organization just prior to the AFL1 season suspension.
College
2006: The unquestioned leader of the Cincinnati defense, Kevin was a first team All-BIG EAST selection. He was the teams leading tackler (68) and leader in tackles for loss (13.5) as well as the winner of the team's Brig Owens Award as the top defensive back. Kevin earned team Defensive Player of the Week honors three times for his performances vs. Virginia Tech, USF and Rutgers. Kevin had10 total tackles (9 solos), along with 3 TFLs to key the win over No. 7 Rutgers, earning BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll recognition. He posted 7 tackles vs. Syracuse and 8 vs. No. 10 West Virginia. In the win over USF, he had 4 tackles, 1.5 TFLs and returned a fumble 39 yards for a TD , earning BIG EAST Honor Roll honors. During 2006, Kevin topped the 5-tackle mark in six different games. Kevin helped the Bearcats to a top 20 ranking and a victory in the International Bowl.
2005: Knowledge of the defensive system and determined, hard-nosed play earned him the starting walk-on middle linebacker assignment at the University of Cincinnati. Kevin was a leading tackler with 60 stops, 10 tackles for loss, 3 fumble recoveries and 1 interception. He made his debut as a starter with 7 tackles, including 3 tackles for loss, in the season opener vs. Eastern Michigan. Versus Penn State, he had 6 tackles (5 were solos) 2 TFLs and a sack. In action vs. Miami (Ohio) he posted a career-high 10 tackles (against Pittsburgh he tied that mark with 10 stops). Kevin made a pair of fumble recoveries vs. USF. At Connecticut, Kevin returned a fumble 17 yards for what proved to be the winning touchdown . Against Syracuse he earned BIG EAST Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors with 5 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Kevin made a key interception in the season finale vs. Rutgers.
High School
Kevin earned first team all-conference honors as a senior at Hudson High School in Ohio. He helped the team to an 8-2 record as a senior playing linebacker and tight end by making 102 tackles.
