Career Overview:

Professional: NFL Kansas City Chiefs: Corey signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs in April 2009. He was released during the final cuts after the 4th pre-season game of 2009. He signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on 4/28/2010 and was released June 11, 2010.

 

College: University of Cincinnati:

2008: In 14 starts, Smith made 67 tackles (35 solo), 10.5 TFL and 2 sacks. Ranked one of the top 15 players not invited to the NFL Combine.

2007: Smith competed in all 13 games, he was top tackler among the linebackers and second on the Bearcats with 80 stops and sixth on the roster with 6.0 tackles for loss. He collected four tackles and returned an interception 18 yards vs. Oregon State , tallied seven stops, including a sack, at San Diego State, and made seven tackles at Rutgers. He was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll after setting a career-high with 16 hits (4 solo, 12 assists), including 1.5 for loss, vs. Louisville . He posted 10 tackles at Pittsburgh and carded six stops and snared an interception at USF . Also tallied five tackles vs. Connecticut and notched seven stops and recovered a fumble vs. West Virginia . Smith was credited with a sack and forced fumble which was returned for a touchdown at Syracuse and notched two solos and two assists in the Papajohns.com Bowl win.

2006: Sidelined him for most of the preseason with hamstring strain, but ended the season fifth on the team in tackles (60) and third in TFLs (9). He returned to the starting lineup for the Ohio State game and celebrated with a season-high nine tackles. Smith carded eight tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss vs. USF and notched four hits at Virginia Tech. He finished with four stops including 2 TFLs vs. Miami (OH) and recorded four tackles and forced a fumble at West Virginia. He recorded five tackles and two hurries vs. Rutgers and made four stops, highlighted by a sack, at Connecticut . Smith totaled eight tackles and one for loss in the International Bowl. Bearcat Academic Honor Roll (Fall 2006, Winter 2007, Spring 2007).

2005: Smith was the team's third-leading tackler with 64 stops , Smith opened the season with 11 tackles over his first two games and posted a career-high 13 tackles, nine of them solos, vs. Western Carolina and rthen ecorded nine tackles vs. Connecticut . He made eight tackles a week later vs. Louisville, also finishing with a tackle for loss and a forced fumble. He made eight tackles vs. West Virginia . Smith was UC's leading tackler and ranked in the top 10 of the BIG EAST. Smith was selected to Freshman all-America third team by Football News and was an honorable mention Freshman all-America by The Sporting News ... a second-team all-BIG EAST Conference choice ... honored with UC's Brig Owens Award as the Most Outstanding Defensive Back.

 

High School: Salem, first-team all-conference, all-county, and all-South Jersey pick for head coach Dave Lindenmuth ... recorded back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons and finished with over 4,000 career rushing yards ... four-year performer at tailback/linebacker who helped school to a pair of league titles ... National Honor Society member.
